Fire coordinator career description

I. List of Fire coordinator duties:

  1. Develop High Level Rescue Plans for all high risk work areas, to ensure that effective response in the event of an emergency.
  2. Document/review of emergency response procedures in line with regulatory requirements
  3. Assist with the coordination of disaster response or crisis management activities
  4. Develop and conduct training programs for the Emergency Response Team
  5. Ensure Emergency Response Team competency standards are maintained
  6. Ensure all operational fire and rescue equipment is inspected and records maintained.
  7. Lead/monitor the daily operations of the Emergency Response function including drill and exercises
  8. Contribute to site wide risk assessment studies and react proactively to areas of high risk
  9. In conjunction with Site Medical Staff assist with medical evacuations of sick or injured employees
  10. Respond to and coordinate any emergency situation requiring the turn out of the ERT members
  11. Attend prestart/tool box meetings and provide awareness on fire appliance operations and fire safety
  12. Coordinate Cyclone readiness for everyone working on the project
  13. Lead a team to prepare site for access after an event such as a cyclone
  14. Recommend necessary equipment rescue and fire fighting equipment
  15. Building strong working relationships with subcontractors and joint venture partners
  16. Weekly/Monthly Reporting

II. List of Fire coordinator qualifications

  1. Relevant qualification in an Emergency Services Discipline at the level of Senior Fire Fighter or equivalent
  2. Or; RII 30709 Cert IV Emergency Response and Rescue
  3. Experience in the resource industry in the field of emergency response or loss control.
  4. Equivalent experience/training leading to the thorough knowledge of fire fighting and response strategies
  5. Intermediate knowledge and use of Microsoft software applications
  6. Knowledge of safety and health standards, and regulations
  7. Proficiency in developing and conducting HSES or ER training programs
  8. Experience with NT Worksafe, or other Australian regulators is preferred
  9. Working a 58 hour week either locally, FIFO or live in
  10. Strong written and oral communication
  11. Must be in good health and able to walk extended distances in tropical climate conditions
